Practice Coordinators
Kim
After graduating with a Bachelor's from SUNY Albany's business school, Kim went on to complete two years of law school at Hofstra University. While attempting to follow her childhood dream of prosecuting child abusers, she came upon the realization that the legal profession wasn't for her. Still desiring to work with children, she chose to get a Master's Degree in Elementary Education, and taught fifth grade in the Half Hollow School District until her first child was born. As a stay-at-home mother, Kim kept busy tutoring, running a gift business, and eventually launching a booming start-up, custom cake company.
Her attention to detail and tireless efforts landed her an invitation to participate as a Guest Chef at the Google Headquarters in NYC. The high-stress, deadline-driven niche didn't mesh well with family life, so in 2009, Kim hooked up with Dr. Helfner and she's been part of the team ever since. Kim is responsible for the overall health and financial well being of the practice. Whether she's advocating on behalf of patients with their insurance companies, creating internal and external marketing concepts, or working on financial aspects of the business, as the Practice Coordinator, Kim's got a hand in every part of Bonnie Helfner DDS, PC Family & Cosmetic Dentistry. When Kim isn't in the office you can find her spending quality time with her husband and children, exercising at the gym, or home cooking for family and friends
Kerrie
Kerrie has been in the dental field since 2000, providing her with a thorough knowledge and understanding of it's many aspects. She provides each patient with individualized care and attention to meet their specific needs. Kerrie is happily married to Anthony and they have three children. She enjoys reading and getting together with her book club and also boating with her family and friends. Kerrie has two dogs, Rags and Gracie, the latter being her shadow.
Assistants
Doreen
Doreen has been Dr. Helfnerís trusty assistant since 1999. When Dr. Helfner first met Doreen, she knew she was talented. At a very young age, Doreen had already worked with many dental specialties including periodontics, oral surgery and orthodontics in addition to her extensive work with general dentistry. Doreen loves being a part of the team at Bonnie Helfner DDS, PC Family & Cosmetic Dentistry and she and Dr. Helfner have become like family.
When she ís not working, Doreen enjoys spending time with her beautiful family including her husband Nick, her adorable daughter Ava and her pet boxer, Roxie. Doreen also loves hanging out with friends and playing cards. Her favorite foods are Mexican and Italian, specifically foods with lots of cheese. Two of her favorite movies are Grease and Overboard. Itís no wonder that everyone who knows Doreen loves Doreen. She is genuine, compassionate and has such a big heart. Doreen recently donated more than 11 inches of her hair to Locks of Love. She ís a very special asset to this practice.
Alice
My name is Alice and I was born and raised in Moscow. I have been living in the U.S. for 12 years and have worked in the dental industry for over 10 of them. Initially my husband, my son, my two cute kittens and I lived in Queens and throughout that time I had worked in Manhattan. Two years ago we moved to Long Island and now reside in the beautiful town of Smithtown.
I was lucky to join Dr. Bonnie's team right after moving to the Island. In my spare time I like to play tennis, jog in the morning, and recently began attending Tango classes.
Joann
Joann has been with the practice since 2000. She is known amongst her friends and patients as caring and considerate person with a great love and passion for her work. She takes pride in working in this office because of the high standards and care and consideration given to all our patients. In her spare time she loves to read, bike ride, spend time at the beach, and boating. Joann is married and has 4 children and a Yorkshire Terrier Mimi who is her constant companion.
Helen
Helen joined Dr. Helfner’s team in 2003. She is a graduate of SUNY Farmingdale hygiene school. She is actively involved in continuing education and in her spare time teaches courses on treatment planning to her fellow colleagues. She loves spending time with her patients and is very thorough and informative in her treatment. When she is not working she enjoys spending time outside biking, kayaking, running, and hiking.
Hygienist
Georgette
Georgette Toskos earned her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene from Farmingdale State College and graduated with honors. She has clinical skills in the maintenance of oral health, the prevention of oral disease and assessing individualized treatment care plans for patients. She is licensed to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide while performing non surgical periodontal therapy. She is a proficient hygienist who enjoys educating her patients about their oral health.
Prior to college, Georgette enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years as an electronic warfare technician aboard the USS Cole. Her personal awards include Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. Georgette is proud to be a veteran and likes to share her many experiences traveling the Mediterranean and Baltic seas.
During her off time Georgette enjoys water sports and is a certified scuba diver. She loves to travel and go on weekend getaways. Some of her favorite spots are Fire Island, Ocean City Maryland, Myrtle and Virginia Beach. Georgette also likes to go skiing during the winter months but prefers to stay in the lodge drinking hot cocoa, staying warm by the fire!
Hygienist
Sarah
Sarah has been in the dental field for more than thirteen years. After ten years of being a dental assistant, Sarah graduated the State University of New York at Farmingdale as a dental hygienist. Sarah joined our practice in 2009 and has been an instrumental, team player ever since. Sarah was the recipient of the prestigious Guggenheim award for excellence and proficiency in the profession of dental hygiene. Sarah was an active member of the Student American Dental Hygiene Association as well organizing fundraisers & functions. She also served as historian of the organization.
Sarah is very warm and compassionate, always putting the comfort of her patients before anything else. Having grown up on Fire Island, Sarah has a love for the beach and enjoys visiting there when she can.
Sarah is married and has a beautiful son, Kyle who was born in October of 2010. Sarah has a philanthropic side to her as well. She has participated in Relay for Life, Give Kids a Smile Day, and volunteered at the Cancer Walk in Farmingdale.
Staff
Amy
Amy joined the office staff in the beginning of 2011. With over ten years of experience in the dental field, Amy is a bright addition to our front desk staff. Amy's ability to speak fluent Spanish has really been helpful in communicating with some of our patients. She has been a resident of Long Island her entire life.
She and her significant other for five years have an adorable pet Maltese named Sakeí. Some of Amyís favorite hobbies include crocheting, playing on her iPad, and listening to music. Amy loves her sushi and her chocolate. Her top priority is spending quality time with her family.

Kerri
Kerri Bentley is the newest member of the Bonnie Helfner DDS team. With a background in education and event planning. Kerri always looks on the bright side and is "up for anything". She recently completed her first Warrior Dash and also a 35 mile walk to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. When Kerri is not being so adventurous, she most enjoys spending quality time with her nieces and nephews and watching sports with friends and family.
