Front Desk
Christine - Office Manager
Christine has been in the dental field since 1991. She has been a key member of Dr. Helfner’s office since she joined the team in May 2006. She is a dental insurance expert and an enthusiastic patient advocate who goes above and beyond to ensure patients understand their treatment and payment options. Christine has been married Steve since 1990 and has 3 children. In her free time she enjoys motorcycle rides with her husband and vacationing with her kids in their timeshare.
Mary - Receptionist
Mary has been a vital team member since 2002. Patients enjoy coming into the practice where they can always count on Mary for a friendly welcome and a big smile. She has many years of experience in the dental field and loves the interaction she has with the patients. Mary has been married to Dave since 1966 and has two children and five beautiful grandchildren! She is a very compassionate individual who will make you feel at ease during your visit to our office. She enjoys spending time with her grand kids (whatever they might be doing) . Her love for animals has led her to do a lot of work with Ferrel cats. She has found new homes for many, and of course has adopted some as well. On a recent visit to Mexico, she enjoyed snorkeling, zip-lining and repelling which she never thought she would dare do. It's never too late to try something new!
Kerrie
Kerrie has been in the dental field since 2000, providing her with a thorough knowledge and understanding of it's many aspects. She provides each patient with individualized care and attention to meet their specific needs. Kerrie is happily married to Anthony and they have three children. She enjoys reading and getting together with her book club and also boating with her family and friends. Kerrie has two dogs, Rags and Gracie, the latter being her shadow.
Assistants
Doreen
Doreen has been Dr. Helfner’s faithful assistant since 1999. At such a young age she has had a extensive experience working with many dental specialties. She is a pivotal member of our office team with an outgoing and energetic personality that makes patients feel more at home during their dental procedures. Doreen has been happily married since May 2006 and gave birth to daughter, Ava, in early 2008. She loves dogs and children and currently has a boxer named Roxie who is her pride and joy.
Alice
My name is Alice and I was born and raised in Moscow. I have been living in the U.S. for 12 years and have worked in the dental industry for over 10 of them. Initially my husband, my son, my two cute kittens and I lived in Queens and throughout that time I had worked in Manhattan. Two years ago we moved to Long Island and now reside in the beautiful town of Smithtown. I was lucky to join Dr. Bonnie's team right after moving to the Island. In my spare time I like to play tennis, jog in the morning, and recently began attending Tango classes.
Hygiene
Joann
Joann has been with the practice since 2000. She is known amongst her friends and patients as caring and considerate person with a great love and passion for her work. She takes pride in working in this office because of the high standards and care and consideration given to all our patients. In her spare time she loves to read, bike ride, spend time at the beach, and boating. Joann is married and has 4 children and a Yorkshire Terrier Mimi who is her constant companion.
Helen
Helen joined Dr. Helfner’s team in 2003. She is a graduate of SUNY Farmingdale hygiene school. She is actively involved in continuing education and in her spare time teaches courses on treatment planning to her fellow colleagues. She loves spending time with her patients and is very thorough and informative in her treatment. When she is not working she enjoys spending time outside biking, kayaking, running, and hiking.
Georgette
Georgette Toskos earned her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene from Farmingdale State College and graduated with honors. She has clinical skills in the maintenance of oral health, the prevention of oral disease and assessing individualized treatment care plans for patients. She is licensed to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide while performing non surgical periodontal therapy. She is a proficient hygienist who enjoys educating her patients about their oral health.
Prior to college, Georgette enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years as an electronic warfare technician aboard the USS Cole. Her personal awards include Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. Georgette is proud to be a veteran and likes to share her many experiences traveling the Mediterranean and Baltic seas.
During her off time Georgette enjoys water sports and is a certified scuba diver. She loves to travel and go on weekend getaways. Some of her favorite spots are Fire Island, Ocean City Maryland, Myrtle and Virginia Beach. Georgette also likes to go skiing during the winter months but prefers to stay in the lodge drinking hot cocoa, staying warm by the fire!
